I purchased everything from my local Dollar Tree except the paint. Although you can also get acrylic paints from there. I have so much craft paint at home I didn’t buy anything new.
How to Make a Dollar Tree Teacher Gift
Supplies:
Start by painting your wooden apple box with acrylic paint. I used a light brown for the stem, green for the leaf, and red for the apple. I painted the entire box inside and out.
Allow the box to dry fully.

I stuck with a red theme for all the gifts I put inside. I added red candy, nail polish, drink mix, a pen, and lip gloss.
More ideas for what to put inside:
- Twizzlers, Haribo Watermelon, Strawberry Gummy Straws. Strawberry Hard Candy, Gum
- Red Nail Polish
- Lip Balm or Lip Gloss
- Drink Mix Packets
- Red Pen
- Scarf
- Teacher Ribbon
- Stickers
I added my candies to a cellophane bag and tied the top with red and white twine so they would fit more easily in the apple, but you could easily add just one small bag of candy to the gift.
After I wrapped the candy, I took things out of the bulky packaging and added them to the apple. I also added a Starbucks gift card to the apple, but that is totally optional.
I tied a cute polka dot burlap ribbon around the apple and added a chalkboard clothespin label with the teacher’s name written with a chalk marker.
This entire gift (minus the gift card) only cost me $10. It would be slightly more if I needed to purchase paint rather than use what I had on hand, but still a very affordable (and adorable) gift.
Once the gift items are removed, the apple works great as a pencil or pen holder.
