I first saw the idea for this spider egg sac on Martha Stewart many years ago. The instructions are no longer available online, but I have all the tips and tricks for making a creepy spider decor.
How to Make a Spider Egg Sac Decoration
This project requires only a few simple supplies and will last years. I made mine in 2013 and am still using it 11 years later!
Supplies:
Start by wrapping your foam sphere with white batting.
Place the wrapped Styrofoam sphere into your stocking. Add spiders around the sphere until you have enough.
My spiders were pretty big, so I didn’t add a ton. Using many small spiders can create a different look.
Next, you will also hot glue spiders onto the outside of the stocking.
Hang it to the ceiling using a push pin. Because the styrofoam ball has some weight, the pantyhose stretches out nicely to create a realistic effect.
I then added paper spiders to the wall using double-sided tape, starting at the table area and moving to the hallway entrance. I also added some inexpensive spiderwebs.
