I know Christmas has passed. Some day I ‘might’ be one of those bloggers that actually has her ideas ready and shared before the holiday has actually happened. I promise I am working on it! But for now, for the rest of this year I will be sharing a bunch of ideas for you to pin for your holiday festivities for next year!
First up is one of our advent activities we did. We had a red and green themed holiday dinner. This one was fun and a little challenging to come up with. I found some great ideas from Jenn’s grinch party over at Clean & Scentsible.
I set the table using placemats I had on hand that were red and green colored. Two of them were a previous year’s Christmas present from my aunt and uncle. The other two might look familiar from my son’s Ninjago party!
Earlier this year I purchased new white dishes and I love that they work with pretty much everything. I had a candle with some greenery in the center of the table. I used red and green striped plastic cups filled with red sparkling grape juice. We had red and green tortilla chips (great find at Safeway) along with some green guacamole and red salsa.
For the main food dish, I made chicken and cheese quesadillas using green spinach tortillas instead of regular ones. We also had garlic butter zucchini for a side dish.
For our dessert we had little fruit kabobs that looked like the grinch. This idea was from Clean and Scentsible (thanks Jenn!). Basically you layer a small marshmallow, strawberry, banana slice and green grape on a toothpick. I think the kids liked these little guys the best!
My daughter is a really picky eater, but she did think the whole idea was fun! My son kept saying how great the table looked, so that counts as a win in my book.
Have you ever tried a color themed dinner? What did you make?
