How to Hard Boil Eggs on the Stove. Use this method of cooking to perfectly hard boil your eggs every time!
Many of us will be dyeing Easter eggs this weekend.
Have you ever wondered how to cook the perfect hard-boiled egg? This fail-proof method works every time to create a beautiful hard-boiled egg that is nice and yellow in the center (with none of that yucky green color that sometimes can happen).
This method doesn’t require adding any additional ingredients to the water. I have tried it all like adding baking soda or vinegar to the water.
How to Hard Boil Eggs on the Stove
Add eggs to a pot. Place your eggs in a pot and cover them with about an inch of water.
Boil the water. Allow the water to come to a rolling boil.
Let eggs sit. Put the lid on, turn the heat off, and set the timer for 10-15 minutes. If you leave them in the hot water for 10 minutes, the yolk will be creamier and dark yellow. If you wait a little longer, the yolk will be a paler yellow and more of a chalkier texture. I use this method when making deviled eggs.
Place eggs in an ice bath. Remove the eggs from the water and place them in an ice water bath for at least 10 minutes.
Peel and enjoy!
Perfect Hard-Boiled Egg Tips:
- The older the eggs, the easier they are to peel.
- Use my easy peel method if you have farm fresh eggs from your own chickens or a farmer’s market.
- Don’t skip the ice bath! Stopping the cooking process as quickly as possible helps to avoid the yucky green ring you sometimes get when hard-boiling eggs. And the ice bath also makes them easier to peel.
- Run a tiny stream of cold water over the egg while you peel it. It helps to have the shells come right off and not stick to the egg inside.
