Back to school has always meant a time for new beginnings and fresh starts. Now that I have school age children (instead of being the student), I often look at the beginning of the school year as a time to start fresh with new routines or schedules. Since we are transitioning from summer to back to school it is a great time for us to get back on track!
This year I included myself in our new routines. I have been feeling very hectic and unorganized most days. Summer was a time for sleeping in and lazy, unstructured days. I knew once my son started school I wanted to carve out a little time for myself before our busy day started. So, I started getting up a half hour before I had to wake up my son to get ready for school.
It has been a hard transition for me since I am not a morning person. And I hate to say it, but I am that cranky mommy you don’t want to be around before I have my coffee. Before, when I used to get up at the same time as my son, I often didn’t even have time for a cup of coffee in the morning until long after the bus had picked him up. Yikes!
I will let you in on a little secret. I am not a black coffee drinker. I can’t stand it. However, I love all the flavors from Coffee-mate. We have tried other flavored creamers and they never compare to the taste and flavor of Coffee-mate. So, when I heard that David Bromstad had partnered up with Coffee-mate and Target, with new limited edition bottle designs, I knew I wanted to check them out. (And hey, let’s be honest. Any excuse to make a trip to Target is a good one in my opinion!)
Each morning I now get up at 6:00 am. (Just typing that makes me tired.) However, starting off my morning with my coffee, planner, and journal is the perfect way for me to wake up and get ready to face the day. I have time to see what is on our schedule for the day, do a little journaling of my thoughts, as well as have time to read some inspirational words. It really is amazing what that half hour does for my entire outlook on the day!
Looking at pretty things never hurts to start your morning off right either! Check out this pretty bottle.

I have only used it in my coffee. I will definitely have to try that!
