Watching my children experience some of the same joys that I did as a kid, is one of my greatest joys as a parent. It is almost as if I get to experience all those firsts right with them. I was a child of the 80’s. I remember waking up Saturday morning, watching cartoons and heading to the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal, while trying to beat my brothers to the coveted toy inside.
Now, it is not very common to find toys in cereal boxes. Mostly they just contain cereal. And I felt like my kids were sort of missing on out this simple pleasure. But, I don’t have to feel like they are missing out any longer. At Walmart, you can get specially marked boxes of cereal that contain Minion toys. We found ours in both a specially display and the cereal aisle.
We are all super excited about the new Minions movie that will be out soon. I can’t wait to take the kids to see it. We have been going to the movies every week for the summer at our local theater and every time they see the big Minion display they ask me if it is time to see the new movie.
You can find the Minion toys in XL and family size boxes of General Mills Cereal – Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, Reese’s Puffs, Trix, Cocoa Puffs, and Golden Grahams.
We picked up three boxes of cereal. Once we got home we were even more excited to open the boxes and find the toys. The 7th minion is really rare and we were hoping to find him in one of our boxes. Unfortunately, we didn’t find him in any of our three boxes. But we did get some super cute Minion toys.
My son figured out that you can connect them all together. Cute, right?
The kids sometimes like to do the activities they have on the back of the cereal box. On our boxes were a type of seek and find. My son was wishing there were more activities for him to do, so I created a Minion word search for him to fill out.
You can download your own word search and answer key below:
The kids can’t wait to see the new movie and I was happy to share a little of my childhood with him. It was pretty cute. He asked me if there used to be toys in all the cereal boxes. I told him only in the kids cereal, not in the boring adult ones!
So, head to your local Walmart and see if you can find the 7th Minion toy. If you find it, let me know! You can tag me on social media or share it here in the comments.
