Minecraft Party. Ideas for a Minecraft birthday party. Includes plans for invitations, food, party decor, games, and party favors.
Minecraft Invitation
Every party starts with an invitation. Mostly, I invite people through text or Facebook invites, but it can also be nice to have a physical invitation.
You can print these at home on your computer or send them to a photo shop for printing.

Minecraft Party Food and Decorations
Themed parties are always so fun to decorate for. You can use the colors from the theme or really get creative with a lot of detail.
Minecraft Decorations
To create the main party table with the food, I started with a brown tablecloth and added a green one on top. I cut out squares from the bottom edge of the tablecloth to resemble a grass block.
I added a green pennant banner behind the party table, used my Cricut to cut out my son’s name from green glitter cardstock, and added some green tissue paper fans.

To elevate the cake and cupcakes on the table, I wrapped an empty box in solid green paper and added a green tissue paper mat.
Minecraft Food
Use inspiration from the game to create Minecraft party-themed food with fun labels. Since Minecraft involves lots of food items, it was easy to come up with creative ideas for the party’s food.

For the drinks, we had water and a party punch. I used a red Hawaiian punch and then labeled the drink lava.
I always leave a Sharpie by the drinks so everyone can write their names on their cup.

Minecraft Cake
For the Minecraft cake, I baked a cake myself and also some cupcakes.
Bake a chocolate sheet cake and frost with chocolate frosting. Use a grass tip to add grass on top. Then, top the cake with figurines. My son had the little characters to play with after the party.

For the cupcakes, I baked chocolate cupcakes and frosted with green buttercream icing. Again, I used the grass tip to make grass on top of each one.

Steve Box Head
Instead of using a blindfold for the pinata and pin the tail on the donkey games, I thought it would be fun to create a mask that looked like Steve’s head.
It turns out an Oxi-clean box was the perfect size for the kid’s heads. I trimmed the top flaps off the box.

Then, I used pieces of colored cardstock to decorate the box to look like Steve.

Minecraft Party Games
We had a lot of fun games and activities at this party.
Dig for Treasure
One of the kids’ games was digging for treasure. I started by using an aluminum baking pan and placing colored sequins inside it.

Then, I added a layer of small rocks on top. I added some small cups for the kids to collect the treasure they could find. I added a Perler bead emerald we made to the top of the pile.

The kids got to look for emeralds, diamonds, redstone, and glowstone dust.

Treasure Box
The kids were also able to decorate a treasure box. I pre-assembled small white favor boxes. I had glue sticks, crayons, and markers available for the kids. The kids could decorate the box with the sequins they found in their treasure hunt.

Plus, I added some wet wipes so the kids could wipe their hands if needed.

Before the kids left, I placed one of the Minecraft Perler bead keychains we made inside the decorated box and put it in the favor bag.
Minecraft Fishing Game
We also played a Minecraft fishing game. I made fishing poles with magnets on the ends, a cute sign, and lined up all the poles in the handles of a large metal bucket. This helped to keep the poles from getting too tangled.

Then, I created Minecraft fish with paper clips to which the magnet would stick. I set them out in a kiddie pool we had. Then, the kids used the fishing pole to see how many fish they could pick up!

Pin the Sword on Steve
A party is never complete in our house without a pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey game. I used an image of Steve’s whole body, which I found online.
Then, I used my printer to create a poster-size print. To do this, you tape together about three sheets of regular printer paper.

Then, I used my Cricut machine to cut out small diamond swords on sticker paper. Before each child approached the poster, they placed the Steve box head on, and I peeled the backing off the sticker.

Then, they had to try to get the sword into Steve’s hand. The closest person was the winner.

Piñata
Another party staple at our house is doing a piñata. Everyone always enjoys this!
I found a treasure chest piñata. I couldn’t find a Minecraft-specific one that wasn’t too expensive, but this one still fits the theme.

I love that we used the Steve box head instead of a regular blindfold. It made for the best pictures at the party!
I always make sure everyone has their treat bags with their name on them before we start swinging!
Minecraft Party Favors
For the party favors, the kids got their decorated treasure box, a Perler bead keychain, and the candy from the piñata. We placed everything in a green treat bag.
