Create a DIY Important Dates sign to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and milestones with a personalized, stylish design for your home or as a gift.
I keep seeing these important date signs crop up all over Pinterest. I knew that with a little design work, I could recreate this myself.

Today, I will show you how to create your own important dates sign to commemorate your family’s birthdays and anniversaries.
I knew that when working on my gallery wall in the entryway, I wanted to include some art pieces that tied in with some of the colors I am trying to bring into my home, but not necessarily photographs.
I had already made a wooden welcome sign and a hand-painted monogram, but I wanted to create one of these date signs that would hold significant meaning for our family.
Important Dates Sign
You can add whatever dates you want. Pretty much whatever is significant to you!
- Birthdays
- Anniversaries
- First Date
- Engagement
- Date you purchase your first home
- Date you found out you were pregnant
I used my My Memories Suite software to create a digital file. The design took me approximately 10 minutes to make using my scrapbooking software.

I used the Modern No. 20 font for the numbers. I added the blue background paper and some white flourishes to dress it up a bit on the top and bottom. They are mirror images of each other.
Next, I added some butterflies to the background because I love them and they hold significant meaning for me. The little heart was added to the zero in the middle row of numbers.

I have seen projects like these done in Photoshop, but honestly, I am still a little scared of that program. (A little update: I now use Photoshop Elements all the time to create projects and printables.)

Gallery Wall
I had it printed at Walgreens as an 8″x 10″ photo, and it is now framed in my entryway.

My gallery wall only needs one more element, and then I will be able to share it with all of you. I can’t wait!
Printer Recommendation
My favorite printer for printing my free printables is the HP Envy Inkjet Printer with HP Instant Ink. I have used these printers for years and always get great results.
Get one free month of HP Instant Ink when you enroll using this link or use code dB3tc.
Amazon: White Cardstock
Walmart: Regular Printer Paper

Canva Template
You can grab the Canva template below.

Some helpful tips:
- Start by adjusting the dates. Click on the date and type the new one.
- You can change the flourish at the top and bottom if you like. Search “ornate flourish” in Graphics to find similar ones.
- To change the background, find the background you want to use in the graphics, photos, or an upload. Once you add it to the canvas, right-click on it and select “Set image as background,” and the image will fill the canvas.
