How to Use the Flip Tool in Cricut Design Space
Sometimes, when you add an object to the canvas, you need the orientation to be different. For example, you may want it to face the opposite direction. For this, you will use the flip tool.
Start by opening a new project in Cricut Design Space. The Flip tool is in the Edit Bar at the top of the desktop screen.

Let’s start by adding a couple of images to the canvas.
I added a set of balloons and some presents.
To use the Flip tool, go to the top of the screen to the Edit Bar and click Flip.
Here, you will see that you have the option to flip the object horizontally or vertically. The object will flip in the direction you choose at the center.
We are going to choose Flip Horizontal.
You can see that the balloons flipped the orientation horizontally.
Let’s say we are making a birthday card, so we want a set of presents at the top and bottom of the balloons. I duplicated the image of the presents.
We will Flip Vertical the bottom set of presents.
Next, let’s add a second set of balloons to the image. Click on the balloons and click Duplicate.
Then, click on the balloons on the left, click Flip, and then Flip Horizontal.
Lastly, we can add a birthday message to create a cute card.
Difference Between Flip and Mirror
Sometimes, when working with certain materials, like Iron On, you need to Mirror Image the design.
This means you are flipping the design horizontally because you are cutting on the backside of the material. So when you place the weeded Iron-On onto the base material, the words and design will look like they did on the canvas.
The Mirror tool works exactly like the Flip Horizontal tool on the canvas, except you will use it on the Mat Preview page, and it will flip your entire design rather than a single object.
Click Make on the canvas.
Then toggle on Mirror on the left side. You can see the entire image is flipped horizontally for cutting.
Remember, when using Mirror, you must select it for every single cut mat.
