How to Use the Size Tool in Cricut Design Space

Almost every project will require you to resize an image or text.
Start by opening a new project in Cricut Design Space. The Size tool is in the Edit Bar at the top of the desktop screen.
Let’s start by adding a circle shape to the canvas.

Size Tool in Edit Bar
The first way to resize an image is to use the Size tool in the Edit Bar. You will see a W and an H with numbers next to them, plus a small lock at the top.
You can adjust an object’s width or height by typing in an exact value or using the arrows to adjust the size by 0.1 at a time. This size is measured in inches.
If the lock is closed, the proportions of the object or text will stay the same. I can change the size of this circle with the lock closed from 2″x 2″ to 3″x 3″.

If the lock is open, you can change the image aspect ratio. Then, you can freely adjust the width or height independently. Now, I can make the circle into an oval by unlocking the size tool and typing 3″x 4″.

Resize by Using the Bounding Box Corners
The other way to resize is by dragging a corner of the bounding box around the object.

If you want to lengthen or widen an image, use the side sizing arrows to adjust the object.

If you select more than one object, or the images are part of a group, all objects will change sizes proportionately.

If you have your objects grouped and do NOT want to size all the images, click on the single layer you wish to resize in the layers panel or double-click on the object. With this method, you can resize one of the images and move it to a new place.

How to Resize Text
You can resize text in the same way you resize images. Add your text to the canvas.

Then, use either the Size tool in the Edit Bar or drag the corners of the bounding box to change it.
If you want to change the size of the bounding box without changing the size of the text, you can drag the handles to the sides or top and bottom of the box. (Not the corners.)
By default, the text will stay centered in the middle of the bounding box. You can change where the text is placed in the box with Alignment, Letter Space, and Line Space tools in the Edit Bar.
