Some friends of ours just moved into a new home last month and we are going to a housewarming/New Year’s Eve party at their house tonight. I wanted to bring something special to celebrate their new home.
About two years ago, I pinned a really cute housewarming gift idea on Pinterest from JulieBanner.com. I love the idea of giving a useful gift that hopefully won’t just fill their new home with clutter and this idea seemed perfect.
All you need to put together this simple, thoughtful gift is a large jar with a wide mouth and your favorite cleaning supplies. I purchased the jar from Walmart, but I think you can also get them at Hobby Lobby and sometimes Target. I added some delicious smelling Mrs. Myers Lemon Verbena dish soap, some cleaning cloths and some sponges. I also added a hand held dish brush.
I am a big fan of plants as well. But, I like to get little ones, so if the poor thing doesn’t survive then the giftee doesn’t feel too bad. :) (I am a self-proclaimed plant killer myself, so I don’t really take it personally!)
To add a personal touch I created some labels for both the plant and to place in the jar with the Snowberry Photo Minis I received from Life-n-Reflection this month.
I love being a design team member for Life-n-Reflection and being able to try out new ideas and products. I wanted to challenge myself this month to use the product I received in a different way. Normally, you would add a picture to these photo minis, but I knew they would make adorable tags.
In photoshop, I simply used my paint bucket to fill the photo area with white. I then added text to each mini. Then, I printed them on white cardstock and cut them out.
I used my corner punch to round off the edges.
To the ‘home sweet home’ tag, I added a red eyelet with my crop-o-dile and tied it around the plant with red and blue baker’s twine.
I love the way this gift turns out and I hope our friends love it!
