Holiday Place Cards. Use the Martha Stewart doily punch to create a simple, yet elegant place card for your guests at your next holiday event.
Thanksgiving is a little over a week away. I host Thanksgiving dinner at my house every year. Usually, my parents and my husband’s mom and grandma come. Through the years we have had other family and friends come to celebrate with us as well.
I don’t always do place cards for guests, but I think it can add a little extra touch to the table to make it look prettier and more put together. Today, I am going to show you how to create a holiday place card that could easily be used for any holiday place setting, not just for Thanksgiving.

How to Use the EK Sucess Doily Punch
The first step is to create a doily shape. I am using the new Martha Stewart Doily Punch Starter Kit to create my doily. It is perfect because I can choose any color or pattern paper to create a six-inch doily. I chose to keep it simple and elegant by using plain white copy paper for my doily.
I trimmed a standard sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ copy paper down to 6 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ to make it easier to punch, but this step is not necessary. Start by finding the center of your paper, and mark it with an X with a pencil. Place the paper on the base of the punch. Align the grid on the bottom of the knob with the center of the paper.
Attach the knob on the base so the magnets connect. Rotate the knob once to make sure the magnets are engaged.
Place the punch cartridge over the knob and paper. All the magnets will connect and hold everything in place while you punch. Press the punch down with both hands.
Remove the punch cartridge. Turn the knob in either direction until it clicks in place.
Repeat the above steps until the circle is complete. Remove the paper by removing the knob.
Use a paper trimmer or scissors to cut the doily in half.
Fold the doily in half.
Next, cut a piece of Kraft card stock to 3 1/2″ by 6 1/2″. Score the paper in the middle using a scoring blade or bone folder. Fold your card stock in half.
Apply adhesive to the middle of the folded doily.
Lastly, attach the doily to the folded card stock. Write your guest’s name on the bottom portion of the place card using a Sharpie marker.
Helpful Tip: If you do not have neat handwriting you can add a name with small stamps, alphabet stickers, or even create the names on your computer and run the cardstock through the printer before trimming.
You could easily create a new look by choosing different colors for your card stock card base and your doily.
