Sometimes you need a quiet activity for your kids to do while you are waiting. Felt busy bags are an easy, inexpensive craft you can do to keep your child busy and entertained on the go. Instead of having a permanent felt board to play with, this one is portable.
Today, I am going to show you how to make a felt Halloween pumpkin.

Supplies:
- Orange felt
- Black felt
- Scissors
- Specialty Felt and glue gun (optional)
Cut out a Felt Pumpkin Shape
To start, I printed off a pumpkin coloring page I found on the internet to use as a template.
Helpful tip: To find your own template, simply type “pumpkin coloring page” into Google to find your favorite one.
I cut out the pumpkin shape from orange felt using my template as a guide. It helps to use straight pins to attach the paper to the felt to make it easier to cut out.
Cut Out Pumpkin Face Shapes
Then, I used black felt to create a variety of faces for my daughter to use to decorate her jack o’ lantern.
Helpful tip: Do a quick Google search for jack o’ lantern faces to get some ideas. But basic shapes work really well for eyes and noses.
Make Your Travel Felt Board
I always like to have a background my daughter can use to display her creations for when we are on the go. I found this pretty black and white felt that would be perfect to make the orange pumpkin stand out.
Use some of the leftover black felt to create a pocket on the back to hold everything. Cut it so it is only half of the height of the patterned black and white felt. Simply hot glue three of the edges of the black felt on the backside of the specialty felt at the bottom to create a pocket.
Place all your pieces inside the pocket.
Then you can tuck the top flap over to keep everything secure.
It is fun to watch my daughter come up with different faces for her pumpkin face felt board. She also likes to cut out her own shapes to use with the pumpkin.
Note: You can purchase a large variety felt pack on Amazon with every color you would need for your craft projects.
