I created three different projects using my Cricut Explore to decorate for my party – treat bags, cupcake wrappers and pumpkin straws and bottle wrappers. Below, I will show you how I created each element for my party and how it all came together.
Halloween Soiree Pumpkin Treat Bags
Supplies needed:
- Cricut Explore™
- Cricut Tool Scraper
- Patterned Paper (black, orange and green)
- Glue stick
- Glue dots
- Foam adhesive squares
- Kraft Bags
- Hole punch
- Ribbon
Start by opening the Halloween Treat Bag file in Cricut Design Space. Click ‘Go’. You can then choose how many treat bags you want to make. (Be sure to click apply). I cut six treat bag pumpkin decorations. You will then click ‘Go’ again and follow the instructions on your screen for loading/cutting/unloading your mats.
Before cutting, be sure to use your Cricut scraper tool to smooth your paper onto your mat. If you do not do this, your paper will tear as it cuts. Especially on the black paper because the design is so intricate. VERY carefully peel up your lace design from the mat. Now is the time to use patience and go slow. Once you have all your designs printed you will start to assemble your treat bags.
Start by covering the orange paper with your glue stick.
Adhere the black lace cut out on top of the orange paper.
Assemble your pumpkins. You will glue the orange pumpkin shape onto the green background. Then attach the small green stem. I used a glue stick.
Using a foam adhesive square, attach the pumpkin to your assembled lace cut out.
I used glue dots to adhere the whole pumpkin treat bag decoration to some kraft bags I purchased from Pick Your Plum.
They have a clear cut out on one side. I adhered my pumpkin decoration to the back side of the bag, so you could still see the treats inside through the clear cut out.
I used a small hole punch to punch two holes into either edge of the folded over treat bag. Use a ribbon to secure the treat bag closed.
Pumpkin Straws and Bottle Wraps
Supplies needed:
- Cricut Explore
- Patterned paper (orange, green and black)
- Glue stick
- Glue dots
- Adhesive tape runner
- Paper straws
- Glass bottles (mine are cleaned Starbucks bottles)
Start by opening the Pumpkin Straws and Bottle Wraps file in Cricut Design Space. Click ‘Go’.
You can then choose how many treat bags you want to make. (Be sure to choose the number of projects you wish to make and click apply). I cut six . You will then click ‘Go’ again and follow the instructions. I cut out three orange bottle wraps and three black bottle wraps.
Assemble your pumpkins as you did when creating your Halloween treat bags. You will glue the orange pumpkin shape onto the green background. Then attach the small green stem. I use a glue stick for this.
Use a glue dot to stick your pumpkin to your paper straw.
To wrap your bottles, use your adhesive tape runner to run a strip of double sided adhesive on each end of the wrong side of your paper.
Stick the wrapper to the back of your bottle. Wrap it completely around and adhere onto the other side of the label.
Note: For parties, I sometimes like to have glass bottles. You can find these occasionally at the Dollar Spot in Target or at the craft store, but I like to repurpose Starbucks glass bottles for this. They come in a four pack. The labels are easily removed and you can wash them out. Use some Goo Gone or a magic eraser to remove any printed expiration dates on the bottle.
Supplies needed:
- Cricut Explore
- Cricut Scraper
- Patterned paper (black/gray polka dots and black/white polka dots)
- Glue stick
Start by opening the Halloween Mini Cupcake Wrapper or Halloween Cupcake Wrapper (standard size) file in Cricut Design Space. Click ‘Go’. You can then choose how many cupcake wrappers you want to make. (Be sure to click apply). You will then click ‘Go’ again and follow the instructions.
Be sure to smooth your paper onto your mat with the scraper tool. These cupcake wrappers have very intricate designs and if you do not do this, your paper may tear as it cuts.
Here you can see what the designs look like after being cut but before you remove any paper.
Carefully remove the extra paper from the mat. You will be left with the cupcake wrappers (plus all the little cut outs in the design). VERY carefully start to peel up your wrapper from the mat. Now is the time to use patience and go slow.
After you have your wrappers off the mats, you need to assemble them. These particular wrappers have tiny tabs at the bottom. Fold them over and glue them to the circle on the bottom of the wrapper.
Do this for all four tabs. I also added a little glue to the two designs that overlap in the back.
Now, slip your cupcakes in. I used store bought cupcakes for both the mini and regular cupcakes.
This party was so fun to create and came together so nicely. The polka dot burlap banner is from Target.
