Learn how to make a charming Dollar Tree painted pumpkin truck sign using inexpensive supplies. This easy fall craft tutorial shows you, step-by-step, how to transform simple wood pieces into a festive “Hello Fall” door hanger, perfect for seasonal decorating.
Today I have another beautiful fall decoration you can use in your decor. I plan to add mine to my gallery wall shelves, but you could also hang it on a door.
This one can be used for all of fall, from Halloween through Thanksgiving.

Supplies:
- Round Sign
- Wooden Pumpkin Truck
- Acrylic Paint*
- Wood Leaves and Pumpkin
- Harvest DIY Words
- Glue
- Real Brown (wood sign)
- Dutch Aqua (truck body)
- Licorice (tires)

- Coffee Latte (truck bed)
- Pure Orange (pumpkins)
- Mossy Meadow (pumpkin stems)
- Vintage White (letters)
- Buttercup and Apple Red (maple leaves)
Remove the twine hangers from the wooden sign and the pumpkin truck.
Paint Round Sign
Start by painting the round sign. You can also use stain to paint it. If you don’t have stain, you can mix acrylic paint with water. This allows you to still see the grain of the wood through the paint, just like stain!

Allow the sign to dry.

Paint Pumpkin Truck
Paint the pumpkin truck with whatever colors you want. Since this is a multi layer wood piece, I suggest painting the bottom layers first. This way, if you get paint on the top layer, you will be able to paint over it when you paint the top layers.
I started with the painting the pumpkins orange.

Then I added some brown to create a little depth.

I used a pretty teal blue for the main part of the truck.

Then, I painted the tires black.

Paint the wheels of the tires with silver metallic paint.

Lastly, paint the wooden truck sides with brown paint.

Allow the truck to dry. You can touch up any paint easier once it is completely dry.

Paint Other Pieces
The wood letters that say “Hello Fall’ is painted with vintage white paint.
Then, I painted a small pumpkin with orange paint and green for the stem.
Lastly, I painted some small maple leaves. I used yellow paint and while it was still wet, I added red paint from the tips towards the middle. This gave them a more realistic look with the two colors.
Glue Sign
After everything has dried completely glue the pieces together.
I used a paintbrush and craft glue to add a thin layer of glue. You don’t want so much glue that it is squishing out the sides. You could also use hot glue, but I have found that storing items in my shed, particularly in areas with temperature fluctuations, causes the pieces to pop off.
I added the truck to the middle of the wooden sign.

Then, I added the words and maple leaves. Lastly, I glued a small pumpkin to the top of the the pumpkins on the truck.

Add the twine back to the round sign to hang.
