Dollar Tree DIY Heart Wall Hanging. Use wooden hearts from Dollar Tree to make an ombre heart wall hanging for Valentine’s Day.
I have started crafting for Valentine’s Day. This year I am trying to use up supplies I have already purchased before going out and buying new things. I got this cute wooden heart wall decor last year and knew just how I wanted to decorate it.
Supplies:
- Wooden Hearts*
- Acrylic Paint
- Red Baker’s Twine
- Heart Ribbon
- Hot Glue Gun
*I don’t think these exact hearts are still available at Dollar Tree, but I found some similar ones at Amazon. You might need to drill a small hole in the bottom of each heart for this project if you find your hearts elsewhere.
How to Make a Wooden Heart Wall Hanging
Start by taking apart the hearts so they can be painted.
Next, paint each heart a different shade of pink or red. I used paints I already had in my stash to make these.
My favorite paints to use for projects like this are from FolkArt. I used colors: 6447 Conch Shell Acrylic, 2940 Baby Pink Multi-Surface, 5248 Raspberry Flash Color Shift, and 4669 Imperial Red Acrylic.
Allow the hearts to dry completely.
Cut a length of red baker’s twine and tie the top of one heart to the bottom of the next heart. Repeat for all four hearts.
Lastly, use hot glue to create a ribbon hanger for the wall hanging. I glued it right over the top hole. Then attach the two loose ends of ribbon together to create a loop for hanging.
This project was so quick and inexpensive. If you already have paint on hand, it would only be $3.75 for the wooden hearts, twine, and ribbon.
