Transform inexpensive Dollar Tree foam pumpkins into beautiful fall décor with this easy decoupage craft tutorial. Learn how to use napkins, Mod Podge, and creativity to make unique, custom pumpkins for your autumn home.
Dollar Tree always has these small foam pumpkins every year in the craft section. They are not the cutest on their own, but with a little creativity, you can use them to make a festive holiday pumpkin display.

Supplies:

Paint the Pumpkin
Start by painting your pumpkin white. This step is optional, but because the napkins are so thin, the white base usually looks better than the orange.

Once your pumpkin is completely dry, you can add your napkins.

Decoupage
Separate the two pieces of the napkin, so you only have the colorful printed side.

Apply a thin layer of mod podge to a small section of the pumpkin. I like to work with the natural sections of each curve of the pumpkin.

Tear a strip of napkin and carefully press onto the pumpkin.

Tearing small pieces, rather than cutting large strips, helps to keep you from having as many wrinkles in the finished project.
Note: You can also cut around a specific part of the design on the napkin, as well. However, my napkins had large patterns, so I used the strip method with small pieces.

Apply a second layer of mod podge to the top of the napkin to smooth it out onto the pumpkin.
Repeat this process until the entire pumpkin is covered.

I used one napkin per pumpkin.

Paint Stem
Use gold paint to cover the stem at the top of the pumpkin.

These adorable pumpkins would be so cute on a Thanksgiving table or on a mantel.

There are so many possibilities! I have found so many fun holiday napkins at Dollar Tree and other stores.

And these pumpkins are inexpensive as well. The pumpkins and pack of napkins are usually only $1.25 – $1.50 a piece.
