Welcome to day 5 of the 31 Days of Deep Cleaning Your Home series!
Clean Windows and Windowsills Inside
Today’s task is to clean your windows and windowsills inside.

Supplies:
Prepare Window Washing Solution
Start by filling a bucket about halfway with water. Add a few drops of dish soap and a splash of vinegar.

Use this and your microfiber cloth to scrub your window glass and windowsill.
Wash Window
Work from the top down on your windows, cleaning the upper glass first, then the lower glass. You don’t need to squeeze out your rag very much and want it pretty wet.
Lastly, you will want to wash your window ledge with your wet rag.

Dry Window
Use your squeegee to wipe the window. A dry cloth can clean up any stray drips.

Clean Windowsill
I spray the inside of the window track with a solution of half vinegar and half water. You can use pretty much any all-purpose cleaner.

Wipe out the window track with your microfiber cloth.

Use a Q-tip to get into the corners.

Keep spraying, wiping, and using your Q-tips to clean the window track! This is as good as mine was going to get.

A reader suggested brushing the track with a stiff brush and vacuuming the dirt before spraying it. This is a great idea, and I am sure it would reduce the time you have to scrub it!
Step back and enjoy your shiny window!
Tomorrow is the last day of cleaning our windows. Let’s all say a little cheer – yeah!

I like that idea of brushing first and vacuuming. I am lazy about windows though-I use those premade windex wipes. lol

I’ve been enjoying your series on deep cleaning. I wanted to offer a tip for cleaning window sills. Before you wet things down, if you use a dry brush (I use a dust pan brush) to loosen all of the debris, then you can vacuum up most of it. Once you wet it the dirt and grime just gets pushed around in the edges and creases where it hardens.

I actually got 5 windows done yesterday (insdie and out) – Yeah!! I can see outside again. They were bugging me so much that I finally just had to stop everything and clean my windows. It drove me nuts every morning when the sun came up to see all that dirt on the outside. Now they’re like new again. After just a few days, my house is already starting to feel cleaner. Great posts.
