Welcome to day 15 of the ‘31 Days of Deep Cleaning Your Home‘ series!
Today’s task is to wash all of your bedding.
I am not just talking about your usual washing of your sheets. Today I want you to wash your bedskirt, mattress pad, sheets, comforter or duvet cover, decorative pillows and shams. This will probably take you a few loads of laundry or even a trip to the laundry mat. Throughout the year we often only wash our sheets, but those other items can get pretty yucky. Especially if you think about bed bugs, your mattress pad can get really gross.
While you have your bed all stripped of it’s linens, go ahead and vacuum your mattress. Use the upholstery attachment on your vacuum. This can eliminate much of the bed bugs, dead skin, dust and anything else that may be lurking on there!
If you have a helper, you can also flip your mattress at this time. I have a memory foam mattress that weighs no less than 1000 pounds (I kid, but it is really, really heavy). For a standard mattress you will just flip it over. For my type of mattress, you are not supposed to flip them over. However, you can flip it from head to foot to help it wear more evenly. This should be done every six months, so fall and spring cleaning is the perfect time to remind yourself to do it.
Put your bed all back together and enjoy a good night’s rest! Isn’t a clean bed the best feeling?
See you back here tomorrow for day 16 of 31 Days of Deep Cleaning Your Home.
