This recipe is so easy it practically cooks itself. Add all the ingredients into the crock pot, except for the cabbage, and let it cook all day.
St. Patrick’s Day seems to be more of an American holiday than an Irish one. And you probably won’t find any Irish people eating corned beef and cabbage on the holiday, but we love it here!
Most corned beef comes with a seasoning packet. It usually includes mustard seeds, coriander, peppercorns, bay leaves, anise seeds, and red pepper flakes.
Ingredients:
- 4 – 6 Carrots
- 1 Large Onion
- 1 (12-ounce) Beer – can be non-alcoholic
- 2 Tablespoons Yellow Mustard
- 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Cup Water
- 2 – 3 lbs Corned Beef Brisket with Seasoning Packet
- 1 Head Cabbage
Chop Vegetables
Start by chopping your carrots and onions into chunks. Add to the bottom of the Crock-Pot.
Make Sauce
Mix brown sugar and water in a small bowl. Add beer and stir.
Pour the wet mixture over the vegetables.
Prepare Corned Beef
Rinse corned beef and pat dry. Place on top of vegetables in the Crock-Pot.
Combine mustard and the contents of the seasoning packet that came with the corned beef.
Spread the mustard mixture on top of the brisket.
Cover and cook on low for 8-9 hours.
How Long to Cook Corned Beef in a Crock Pot?
Cook corned beef in a crock pot on high for 4 1/2 hours and low for 8 hours.
Remove corned beef from the Crockpot and cover with foil to keep warm.
