Winter Printable

Yesterday, I shared some craft ideas I created for the holiday season in previous years. Today, I am sharing a fun winter printable with you.

One of my favorite things to decorate with this time of year is snowflakes and snowmen. They work well because I can keep them up even after Christmas. Even though I don't decorate for winter/Christmas until after Thanksgiving, when the Christmas decor comes down, I still like to have a few decorations out.

You can print this out on a home printer or have it printed at your local photo processor, place it in a frame, and you have a cute winter subway art to add to your holiday decor!

Holiday Ideas

Did you have a nice Thanksgiving? Ours was wonderful. We had family and friends over to our house and had the most delicious meal. However, since Thanksgiving is officially over and Christmas is right around the corner, I thought I would share some ideas to kick off the holiday season!

Last year, instead of doing a traditional advent calendar where the kids get candy or toys each day, we had an advent calendar filled with experiences. Each day, the kids pulled a card out of the calendar and we did that particular activity for the day.

Advent Calendar Activities

Last year, my son was in preschool and needed a lot of help writing a letter to Santa, so I made a pre-made form for him to fill out just a few key words. We will probably do something similar this year, but I will have him sound everything out himself. Should be cute! (If you click on the link, you can download a printable copy of the letter below for your child.)

Do you need a simple, inexpensive idea for handmade ornaments? I created these ornaments before this was a craft blog, so the pictures aren't great, but they are pretty easy to construct. You can use any kind of scrapbook paper to make these personalized for you or for gift giving.

Lastly, another oldie but goodie from my pre-craft blog days are these super cute candy jars. You need a few supplies you can purchase at the dollar store or the craft store very inexpensively. Can you believe these are made out of terra cotta pot pieces and a glass jar? So fun and festive!

I hope these posts give you some inspiration to get your holiday season started. I will be posting some more fun tutorials and printables in the coming weeks.

I don't have a formal link party on my blog, but if you would like to share a holiday related post in the comments, I would love to check it out. It can be an old or new craft or holiday project you have done!

Also, be sure to check out Pick Your Plum today! They have baker's twine for only $4.95 for 240 yards. Enter code ILOVETWINE (today only) and save $4.95 off your order. That is one roll free!

Giveaway: My Memories Suite v3 Software

** Giveaway is now closed **

Congratulations to Amy D. for winning the My Memories Suite giveaway!

In honor of Black Friday and Cyber Monday I wanted to offer up a little giveaway to my readers. Today's giveaway is from My Memories! For those of you not familiar with this software, head on over to their website and check it out. From the My Memories site:

" MyMemories Suite v3 software is a complete digital scrapbooking solution that provides a comprehensive powerful set of creative tools no other scrapbook software can offer. With its intuitive workspace and enhanced time-saving features, this application is perfect for a beginner to create a complete album in minutes, or to empower the design pro to build a scrapbook album masterpiece. "

They offer an easy to use digital scrapbooking software that you can use to create beautiful scrapbook pages in just minutes. And sharing your pages is as easy as a click of your mouse. You can build a page from scratch or use one of their many pre-designed templates.

Following are pages I made with the software:

I created a calendar for December using papers and elements from the Jingle Jingle kit (by Lee Lou). I started by adding a background paper. Next I added a square shape and matched it with the red on the paper. Then, I added a calendar. You can choose the month, year, fonts and colors for your calendar.  Last, I added some fun embellishments from the kit.

The next page I created using elements and papers from the Outdoor Fun kit (currently free!). I started with background paper 5. I added a couple of photos from our big annual camping trip we make. I easily created mats with shadows using the photo tool.  The word art came from the same kit. I added some sea foam hammerhead brads and satin ribbon that come with the software.

The last page I created was just to show you this really fun set of 16 Christmas tags you can download for free right now. You can add the tags to one page, size them how you want, and print them out on cardstock!

From downloading the software to creating a page, My Memories Suite v3 software is easy enough for a beginner but has enough elements to make even a seasoned scrapbooker happy. They offer so many free and inexpensive downloads on their website. And you can easily integrate elements from other sources as well!

Just Dance 4 Review #CleverJD4 #spon

Thank you to Ubisoft for sponsoring this post. Please click here to learn more about Ubisoft. I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective. #UbiChamps

If you follow along with me on Facebook, you will know I was selected to be a UbiChamp by the Clever Girls Collective.  Basically, this means I get to review some truly awesome Ubisoft video games and tell you all about them here on the blog.

The first game I had the opportunity to review was Just Dance 4 for the Wii. I have only ever played a Just Dance game one time before at a friend's house for a girl's night in. So. Much. Fun! I was really looking forward to being able to try this one out for myself at home.

My 6 year old son and I jumped right in and started trying out some of the different songs. It is really easy to get started. You just click on your song, add in additional players by hitting the 'A' button and you are ready to dance. This is a great game for the whole family. You can play with up to 4 people at a time! You can also set up a 'Dancer Card' for each person that plays to keep track of your scores.

There is a good mix of songs on the game. Some are fairly new and popular right now, like 'Call Me Maybe' by Carly Rae Jepsen and 'What Makes You Beautiful' by One Direction. Then, there are some older songs like 'Superstition' by Stevie Wonder and 'Jailhouse Rock' by Elvis Prestley.

And if you are wondering if the game gets boring since you are doing the same songs over and over, let me assure you it is not! You can earn 'mojo' points each time you dance, and even earn double mojo for different songs each turn. As you earn more mojo points you unlock new dances and different versions of the songs. Also, it is so fun to try to get more stars each time you play. We are still working on getting a coveted 5 star performance.

I have been having trouble trying to fit in workouts with two small kids at home. We don't have a gym membership and it is starting to get too cold to go out running or walking in the evenings. This game is great! Just playing it is an awesome workout, but there is also a 'Just Sweat Mode' where you can choose a particular workout for 10, 25 or 45 minutes. It is perfect because I can do it with the kids - they love to dance along, too!

Here is what my son has to say about the game:
"It is good. I love it. I like the robot song and the One Direction song and the song where the guy is wearing the green shirt. My favorite part of the game is learning how to dance."
He is getting pretty good at all the songs!

I am looking forward to playing this game tomorrow with our extended family coming over, after we eat. It is a great way to work off those extra pieces of pie. I am hoping we can convince all of our parents to give it a try. If nothing else, it will provide a lot of good pictures and laughs!!
